Jam-packed in London’s historic Camden Assembly late last month, the sold-out crowd was in for an intimate and energetic performance from Sunset Sons, the new indie band making waves in the UK.

Immediately captivating everyone in the room with “Eyes Wide Open,” a punchy tune that truly showcased each of the member’s musicianship, it was very clear from the start that Sunset Sons is more than just another indie rock band, each member determined to give this performance everything they had to offer.

As one of their more well-known tracks, “Medicine” was a particular highlight of the night. Vocalist Rory Williams demonstrated incredibly strong and distinct vocals that helped elevate the performance to a whole new level, many in the room dancing around and singing the track back to the band.

Although the amount of space Camden Assembly has to offer is small, everyone in the room made the most of it, making for a close and intimate performance that won’t be forgotten for a long time. Their two brand new songs “Problems” and “Say Hi” were well-received, each track clearly showing the groovy direction they are taking their music. Clapping along to the beat in “Say Hi,” many in the audience knew all of the words to the track, singing the pre-chorus back to the band with so much emotion and passion. This performance alone showcased both the dedicated listeners Sunset Sons have, as well as how positively their new sound has been received, proving that their decision to step away from their simple guitar-driven music may have just been the gamble they needed.

Closing out the night with a two-song encore of “Somewhere Maybe” and “On The Road,” two of their most popular songs to date, the energy in the room reached an all-time high. Exerting every last bit of energy they had left during those two performances, the venue seemed to explode with life, sending Sunset Sons off to finish the rest of their tour with an unforgettable stop in London.
