Triptides

The Factory // Los Angeles, CA // May 30th, 2019

Photos and review by Sara Salari

What a wild experience! Triptides preformed at The Factory presented by Minty Boi on May 30th in Los Angeles, California. The experience was a trippy time from start to finish.

Minty Boi hosts some pretty cerebral shows. Inside a mostly abandoned warehouse and up the escalator we went to a psychedelic DIY underground party space. The spot was filled with projections, colors and the smell of cigarettes, I thought I had just entered New York. But no, we were very much in Downtown LA.

The atmosphere supported the swirl of dreamy reverb and jangle pop harmonies Triptides breezed on through with, starting the night with one of their most popular hits “Set You Free.” This song was released back in 2013 under their second album, Predictions, and it wasn’t the only “oldie” played on the set list. I was pleasantly surprised by the array of songs cherry picked from all their albums, spanning all the way back to their first album, Sun Pavilion.

In addition to the older hits, we had the pleasure of hearing some songs that haven’t been released yet, which made us all the more excited for the upcoming album!

You can always expect quality coming from Triptides. They play their hearts out on stage and have a good time doing it, even if that means having sweaty equipment by the end. Triptides put on a show that makes you long for summer, but with the season being days away now, the feeling couldn’t be more appropriate.
Triptides are about to start their tour in Europe, beginning their adventures in Greece on June 27th. We can expect a new single from Triptides on the first day of summer, June 21st.
