Indie-pop group lovelytheband recently stopped in Salt Lake City while travelling the US on their “Find It Hard to Smile” tour. Fans lined up early outside of The Depot ready to hear the band play new songs off their recently released debut album. Preceding lovelytheband were Jagwar Twin and Flora Cash, two artists that fans were just as excited to see perform.

Jagwar Twin

First onstage was Jagwar Twin, the solo project of singer-songwriter Roy English. His alternative-pop vibes swept through the crowd as people around the room were drawn to his performance. English was backed by an impressive band: Luke Villegas on guitar, Pete Jonas on bass and keys and Garrett Tyler on drums. They’d only played a handful of times together before, but seemed as though they’d been together for years.

Flora Cash

Fresh off the release of their new EP, Press, Flora Cash stepped onstage ready to introduce the crowd to their unique blend of indie-folk and atmospheric pop. The duo’s chemistry was apparent throughout their set, and their genuine enjoyment was impossible to miss. Their immersive performance along with a captivating light show kept the audience enthralled to the very end and did a great job at preparing fans for the final act.

Lovelytheband

Capping off the night was the highly anticipated headliner, Lovelytheband. They immediately launched into “Make You Feel Pretty” and the crowd went wild. The energy was constant the entire night. Setlist surprises like the “Mr. Brightside” cover had fans screaming the words in line with Mitchy Collins. Even when admittedly overcoming a cold, Collins knows exactly how to put on an excellent show. Guitarist Jordan Greenwald was an absolute thrill to watch as well. His constant jumping and interacting with fans added a great component to the set. Sam Price kept everyone on track with his enthusiastic drumming and evident love for playing. Altogether, Lovelytheband created a memorable evening for fans during their first Salt Lake City headliner.
