On Saturday, May 4th The Midnight made their final stop on their North American Tour at the Fox Theatre in Oakland. The sold-out show was the biggest crowd they have ever performed for so it was a special night for all involved.
The Midnight’s band members include singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and producer/songwriter Tim Daniel McEwan. To begin the night, they performed a brand new single called “America Online” which was released just a day before the concert. Throughout the evening, the crowd could be seen grooving along to their feel-good electronic music. Their set included a great light show and dramatic fog which really complimented their performance. Lito Hernandez, a fantastic saxophone player whom the crowd really appreciated, also accompanied them.
As a special treat for their fans, they brought out good friend Nikki Flores and performed their collaboration “Jason” from their second album, Endless Summer, that was released in fall of 2016. For the last song, they sang “Los Angeles” which is the city where Tyler and Tim first met. For an encore they performed “Lost & Found” and “Sunset.” During the final verses of “Sunset,” their opening act Violet Days returned to the stage with her band along with Nikki Flores to add their voices to finish the song.
If you love electronic music or just dancing around with friends, I would recommend going to a see The Midnight in concert. It is quite an uplifting experience.
