L.I.F.T

As fans approached, the outside of the Mod Club Theatre was buzzing. VIP fans were coming out from their meet and greet with the headliner, Set It Off, with smiles on their faces and stories to share with each other. As soon as the doors opened, everyone knew that the night was beginning. The line moved quickly and fans made their way to the merch tables to collect the newest clothing and accessories their favorite artists had created for the new tour. Slowly, the venue filled out as everyone stood around waiting for the telling sign of lights dimming, signifying that the openers were coming out.

The San Diego based band, L.I.F.T, opened the show with an energetic mix of pop and hip-hop, having the crowd go crazy at every single request. Without a barricade, the lead singer, Austin Arthur, constantly interacted with the fans in the front row whether singing to them or saying a quick word in between songs. Their show was the perfect way to start off the show, as the audience had an opportunity to jump around and even interact with the band at the merch table after their set.

Super Whatevr

When Super Whatevr came on stage, many fans scrambled to get closer to the stage from their places in the back of the venue. As they began their first song, fans immediately sang along. When lead Singer, Skyler McKee, began the song ‘Someone Somewhere Somehow’ the raw emotion was not lost on the crowd as they took turns singing along and keeping silent in awe of the intensity of the performance. The energy in the room shifted, as everyone in the crowd was truly touched by the lyrics and performance Super Whatevr brought to Toronto.

With Confidence

Australian rockers, With Confidence, graced the Toronto stage for the first time since ill-fated Toronto Warped Tour in the summer of 2018. Rushing on stage, the band began their set with ‘Keeper’, allowing many fans in the crowd the perfect opportunity to start crowdsurfing. Performing a variety of fan favorites such as ‘Archers’, and ‘Jaded’, having fans jump around, even creating a mosh pit that was short lived due to venue security. They stopped the set for a moment of banter before continuing, as they recounted the issues they faced last time they came into Canada. Performing ‘Voldemort’, fans sought the last opportunity to get on the stage.

With the lack of barricade, a fan crowdsurfed to the stage and hesitated for a moment, making the band stop the song to urge the crowd to catch them. The fan launched himself into the crowd with confidence, getting lifted by the group.

Set It Off

As the countdown towards midnight clicked down, the fans got more hyped as their favorite band was about to hop on stage. The blue lights covered the venue as Set It Off ran on stage to the roar of the crowd. Lead singer, Cody Carson, effortlessly commanded the attention of everyone in the room, having them jump and sway to the first tracks. Interacting with the crowd and singing to a select few towards the front showed the band’s appreciation of their fanbase, truly making it an intimate experience despite the size of the venue.
