Atmospheric, post-hardcore band Holding Absence are quickly making a name for themselves in their scene. In the few short years that they have been a band, they have already done headlining tours as well as touring with the likes of Being as an Ocean, Casey, Greywind and more. The five-piece hailing from Cardiff, Wales will be dropping their first full length S/T on March 8 via Sharptone Records.
From the moment the first track kicks in, you know this album is gonna be great. The opening track titled “Perish” starts off slow with a spacey very atmospheric type sound for about a minute before kicking in full force. This track had the perfect balance of melodic lyricism and heavy hard hitting instrumentals.
With the track “Marigold”, the group takes a very different turn with the sound from the rest of the songs, slowing it down and really showcasing all that they are capable of creating. Vocalist Lucas Woodland has an incredible voice, and he gets the chance to showcase it on this track.
Overall this album is excellent, you can tell they put their whole heart and soul into making this album the best it can be. This album has a little bit of everything on it from slow emotional tracks to heavy hard hitting tracks, the one thing that stays consistent throughout is the sincere and honest lyrics. Do not sleep on these dudes, they are the real deal, and their career is only going to go up from here. They are going to be real big real quick.
