Orchestral folk/rock outfit Mike Mangione & The Kin will release their forthcoming album But I’ve Seen the Stars October 20, and today, Huffington Post premiered a soulful single, “Riding Down.”
Inspired by universal, existential struggles, “Riding Down” was recorded within 30 minutes.
“The song is based out of the classic question of who am I, what am I and where am I going?” Mangione said. “Roots music has a long tradition in dealing with either running toward or away from light/darkness. This song swims in the same waters. In this case the protagonist is fighting to break out and run towards the good, and he knows that when he finally gets free, the hounds will be howling.”
