K.Flay recently collaborated with Spotify for a mini music-doc, and her cover of Sublime’s “40 oz. to Freedom”–twenty-five years after the song’s initial release–serves as its soundtrack. The episode is part of Spotify’s #RockThis playlist, which also features recent releases from Fall Out Boy and The Killers.
“Bradley’s [Nowell] vocals are extremely raw, whether its rap [or]these sweeter songs, whether he’s angry or lonely….there is kind of this unfiltered essence to it,” the singer-songwriter said. “I love that raw energy, and I think it’s the stuff that is imperfect that people are drawn to.”
