Less Than Jake – Sound The Alarm EP
Review by Annette Hansen
It’s been a little more than three years since we last heard new music from punk/ska group Less Than Jake. Now, the band has released their latest EP Sound The Alarm bringing with it what listeners have always enjoyed about Less Than Jake.
In all honesty, Sound The Alarm is exactly what you would expect from a Less Than Jake release– the songs are catchy, energetic and obviously a lot of fun. The band is as enjoyable as always, but that’s really all this EP has to offer, although, midway through the album is the track “Welcome to My Life,” which is a real gem on this release. The song is the heaviest-handed ska track on the EP. The self-deprecating lyrics play well with the song’s twangy, beachy guitars.
If you’re already a fan of the band, then you’ll probably be delighted to hear this new solid collection of songs from the band, but don’t expect it to be anything earth shattering.
