Don’t Miss Out: The Heirs
Interview by Ashley Altus
Festival season is in full swing, and with that comes the biggest traveling festival of the summer- Warped Tour. This year the tour features a ton of throwback bands like Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Less Than Jake, New Found Glory and so many more! And while we love these bands and appreciate their contribution to the scene, we want to introduce you to some of the bands that you may not know about. Who knows? You might get introduced to your new favorite band.
For the next installment of Don’t Miss Out, we caught up with Brandon Hudson, vocalist/guitarist of The Heirs to talk about their first year on Warped Tour, competing on America’s Got Talent and more!
How have you grown musically after your first debut in the public eye of performing on America’s Got Talent in 2013?
America’s Got Talent was definitely a learning experience. Savannah and I were so young. It was the perfect way to learn how to perform in front of large audiences. Obviously, we’ve grown up a lot since then and formed our band The Heirs. We are thankful for all of the experiences that have led us to where we are today.
What were your expectations for going into your first year on Warped Tour and how has the tour panned out so far?
Warped Tour has been unreal so far. It’s such a unique tour. We are so beyond thankful to be a part of it. We are meeting and reaching new fans every day as well as making tons of friends also in amazing bands. We are loving it more and more every day.
The “wishbone clan” term comes from the idea of needing both halves to hold each other up. We need our half as much as they need us. It’s a mutual and collective love.
Last August you put out your EP, Ecliptic, what can fans expect for your upcoming first album release?
Fans can expect a lot of new content. We’ve been working very hard to create and craft our own sound, something unique to listeners. We wanted to make sure that our newest single, “What You Want” spoke that sound.
Well, we are a band, and there are five of us. We all are basically siblings, spending every day together even when we are off tour. It’s more fun that way. We create and write according to our collective experiences.
How do you feel the distinct image of your band fits into the Warped Tour punk scene?
Everyone on Warped Tour is very unique. All of the bands for the most part are trying to do their own thing and therefore, so are we. We aren’t necessarily ones to try and fit in anyway. We want to stick out, life is more fun that way.
