If Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World fronted the Strokes, the result would be Outside Animals. The indie rock outfit–consisting of founding member and vocalist Colin Orthmann, bassist Mark Peters and drummer Gabriel Grinta– is taking the Los Angeles area by storm with their unique sound and story. The band debuted with 2013’s Black Room and on June 10 they will release their newest EP, Outside Animals.
We are happy to bring you an exclusive first listen of “Jenny Trouble” from the new EP. The song is a catchy tune laden with Orthmann’s Jim Adkins-esque vocals on top of a twanging guitar. There’s a raw and refreshing approach to the songwriting that seems to be missing from what other bands offer musically. Orthmann has this to say about the track:
“‘Jenny Trouble’ makes me think of a mysterious femme fatal. I guess that girl could represent anything you admire and fear at the same time. I love mysterious characters and meeting new, interesting people so this song is an anthem of sorts for those experiences. I hope there are Jenny’s out there that will listen to the song and have it be their badass montage song.”
