Close your eyes and take deep breaths. You are centered with every point in the universe and one with your own consciousness. At this moment in time, you flow with the universe, etched in time in a constant state of being. While some may find this baffling or uncomfortable, garage rock band Blankus Larry is no stranger to meditation and existential wonder. Recently, the group sat down with us to chat about their track, “Please (Don’t Let Me Lose My Mind)” and how it notches an crucial story on the band’s upcoming album, Problemo.
“Please (Don’t Let Me Lose My Mind)” is a song in the Larry tradition of cathartic meditation. Every song on our upcoming album, Problemo, is about a different problem… Not that we think our problems are special or anything. We just thought some folks might be able to relate.
“Please” is basically a post normal blues song about being at the brunt of Murphy’s Law and that all too familiar feeling of when you just can’t seem to catch a break… When cavalcades of conundrums keep rolling in like some sort of strategized army against you and what you’re trying to accomplish… You know how when you’re really on to something, sometimes everything seems to try to get in the way? In that sense, “Please” is a song about pushing through and riding things out. And that it is okay and normal to be frustrated at times during the process. And it is even better to make something good out of that frustration.
It’s a wild feeling to make yourself vulnerable in verse and have people respond positively to it! It’s very exhilarating. Thank you so much for listening and caring!
