Not to be confused with that popular thing called Star Wars, Raleigh’s Summer Wars is the next rising band you need to know. The pop-punk outfit recently released their brand new EP Better Days, (Which you can check out below) and is beginning to climb aboard the national touring circuit.
Current EP: Better Days
Members:
Tripp Rowe // Vocals, Guitar
Noah Whiteman // Guitar, vocals
Brett Caldwell // Bass, Vocals
Phillip Wilson // Drums
How did you form?
We formed earlier this year around May, right before we went into the studio, I had been in a few bands over the years and I hadn’t really accomplished what I had wanted with them. I had mainly been playing drums before this band, so I decided to start from scratch and have a more direct role over songwriting. Then Phillip – who I’ve known for years – and played in other bands with joined me and took over the drumming. Brett, Noah & I met much later but they had both been playing in another pop-punk band in North Carolina and joined Summer Wars on bass and guitar respectively.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
It would definitely have to be getting the first mixes back from recording our EP ‘Better Days’; hearing months of songwriting and hard work come together and pay off in such an awesome way was incredible.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
I think there a lot of bands at the moment that are sticking to either clean or distorted tones, I think one big think that sets us apart from other bands in the genre is that we are not afraid to add a slight atmospheric vibe to our songs. I think it puts a slight twist on the sound pop-punk is currently known for. Plus were obviously the best band in the world.
