Traveling with nothing but an open mind and guitar, Sam Tolson has traveled far and wide with her music. Based out of Columbus, OH, this singer/songwriter is dedicated to sharing her songs across the globe. 2015 is already shaping to be a major year for Tolson, with her brand new single, and an upcoming sophomore album release.

How did you get your start in music?
I got started in music about two and half years ago. I uploaded a YouTube video of a song by Colbie Caillat called “Fallin For You” just for fun. I never had a reason behind uploading any music, it was always just for fun. Even my family was unaware of my music interest and upon seeing my video, were completely shocked. I never participated in any music classes or contests when I was younger, so me singing left my family very astounded when there were videos of myself singing on the Internet.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
So far the highlight of my career has definitely been being invited to the final auditions before the live show of The Voice. Earlier in the year, I was sent an email to attend the “industry” side of auditions which meant I was able to pass all of the pre-auditions for the show. I think this was the most memorable thing I’ve experienced. It was a huge opportunity and something not a lot of artists get to experience so I was extremely grateful for the moment as I grow in my career.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
I think people should listen to me for their own reasons. I don’t think my opinion should influence them, I want people to listen to me because they like my music, my lyrics, my background and because they support my beliefs. I love the fact that everyone has their own opinion and can express it however they want and I think that is what makes me different. Everyone has one life to be whoever it is they want to be and myself going through music, connecting with anyone who crosses my path, is an experience I never thought I’d have. It has truly saved my life and shaped me into a person not only who I am proud of but my family, friends and fans are as well. Some people will like me and some people won’t. I am okay with that. As a person, I think that speaks immensely. My main goal as an artist is to make a difference in everyone’s life that I meet and live mine to the absolute fullest in any possible way I can.
