How did you form?
Grizzly Business was formed by a chance encounter in the San Diego neighborhood of South Park in 2013. Matt Burke and former bass player Jano Aste-Nieto were coincidentally having beers at Hamilton’s when the two drunkenly decided to rekindle a musical fire that had once lit dim as a 90’s cover band that never made it out of a rusty garage. Bringing on Walter Ayllon the group has since shuffled members, bombed shows, and settled comfortably in it’s current form with blonde bombshell Corey McComb and too tall he can’t even Brian Vilven on the bass.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Finally releasing our EP in February felt great. We’ve gotten a chance to do a lot great things in the last two years with just a couple of garage recorded demos. Now we have professional recordings that prove we actually exist as a band. Not to mention our release show was an awesome sold out show at Soda Bar with our parents present to witness the money they spent on our college educations go to good use.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
Funny you ask. We feel as though while everyone is trying to be different and unique, we are kind of just trying to be ourselves. While we get compared to the Shins and the Strokes a lot, just being genuine and making whatever sounds feel natural to us is refreshing and something we feel people can relate to. We’re four really good friends who have as much fun dancing and bantering with each other on stage as we do off of it.
Keep up with Grizzly Business on all things social!
