Alt-pop outfit The Perfect Addiction from Arizona went behind the scenes for their hit “Stop Drop,” which will make you dance and keep asking for more. This song was the first song we wrote for “Ecstasy”. It started in Justin’s house back in the summer of 2013. Kyle and Justin were just jamming out and came across the verse for Stop Drop. From there they wrote the rest of the song just instrumentally and kind of brought in some basic melodies. Sean came in after that to throw some melodies on top of it and then Trevor laid wrote some temporary bass parts for it. It wasn’t until the demoing process almost 6 months later that we wrote the melody. It was a week before we went into the studio and we realized that we still hadn’t finished the first song. We had planned to come back but it kind of got pushed to the side. We ended up writing the lyrics late at night in Kyle’s room after doing a live chat with some fans.
When we wrote the lyrics we just wanted a song that covered the raw feelings a guy has for a girl when pursuing her strictly for her looks. Everyone has had that time where you see someone and you know right then that you want them. You might know nothing about their personality and they might be the biggest bitch in the world but they’re beautiful and at the end of the day the body wants what the body wants (or something like that). So we put those feelings into words and then those words into song and what you have is the lyrics to Stop Drop.
From there we hit the studio where usually Curtis Douglas would tear the song apart from the floor up and we would rewrite the entire song. However this song was different. The song that is currently flooding your ears is almost identical to the one we wrote originally. This was definitely one of our favorite songs off of “Ecstasy” and we hope it’s one of yours too.
