How did you get your start in music?”
I began taking piano and voice lessons at a young age, which motivated me to try to assemble simple melodies and resulted in the creation of the first “songs” I ever wrote. I became very involved in choral ensembles growing up and continued to study music in college. It was in my college years that my songwriting began to take shape, and I started to develop an individual musical style.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
The highlights of my career so far have been the releases of my self-titled EP (2012) and my sophomore EP, To Street & Transfer (November 2014). These projects involved the kind of “blood, sweat, tears” passion and sacrifice that pushes and pulls you, is ultimately very rewarding, and results in a very long nap
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
I have what I consider to be a very grounded passion for music and for singing. I still sit down at a piano to plunk out melodies and to see what works and what doesn’t. I think as the music industry evolves and changes, it’s important to present young people with organic music, real instruments, and personal story-telling. Sadly, it seems that those qualities are dwindling in a lot of today’s music.
