London based punk outfit, Ghouls, will have you moving to every track. The group mixes aggressive punk riffs with an eclectic group of instruments to create a unique rock experience. Recently, the group opened up and went behind the scenes for their self-titled track “Great Expectations off of their Great Expectations EP, which you can check out here.
“Great Expectations is a song about that time in a relationship where things are sour and you’re sort of just hanging on because you’re not sure what else to do. You’ll say sorry without meaning sorry just to save the argument and spend a lot of time needlessly worrying about it all. It’s written from experience from situations I’ve been in myself and also situations I have witnessed my friends in. When I initially wrote the song I’d been jamming the riff for a while and one day I accidentally heard a conversation between my friend and his girlfriend, the hook – “it’s not logical for us to be together, it’s psychological to only want what you can’t have” is one of the things I heard him say, I wrote it down and the rest sort of just flowed.”
