San Jose based rockers, The Livewires, bring southern Rock N’ Roll like you’ve never heard before. The group recently released their debut album, What Fuzz, which includes the hit single, “Let It Down. The band went behind the scenes with us to talk about the single, and its inspiration.
Behind The Song:
Someone close to me was going away for quite some time, and I was seeing them for the last time the night before they left, and there was this third person (I’m being vague for a reason) standing over us, supervising this whole goodbye experience. I just wanted some privacy. It was uncomfortable and made me feel untrustworthy.
The song is really about some enigmatic, ghostly thing that seems to follow you around wherever you go. This could be anything to anyone. Whatever your demons are.
Fun fact: The “wooh” at the beginning was just yelled during the initial drum tracking and the mics caught it. We decided to keep it. The opening fuzzy bass track was a phone recording from our garage the first day we wrote the song. We record things or we’ll forget them. Came in handy, I guess.
Lyrics
I was howlin’ down your street, babe,
Lookin’ for meat.
I was prowlin’ down your street, babe,
Listenin’ for the big beat.
And I feel we’re not alone.
And I feel we’re not alone.
Cause it’s One Two Three, Oh I’m-a miss her
So Four Five Six, I want to kiss her,
Can you please stand somewhere new?
Pull a One Eight Seven on my way to heaven,
Dial Four Two Zero and call my hero,
When you’re gone and all is through.
One Two Three, Oh I’m-a miss her,
So Four Five Six, I want to kiss her,
Mama, please stand somewhere new.
Cause it’s over one shoulder and on the other,
Your glare is pullin’ my eyelids over,
I jusy wanna see this through.
Oh yea yea.
Baby please,
Take me home…
To your mama’s house.
