The Brevet – Moving Mountains

0

The Brevet seem to be moving mountains with their hit single, “Moving Mountains.” The americana trio from Irvine create infectious rhythms through cinematic sounds and traditional singer/songwriter elements. The band recently opened up about their experiences writing the hit song, “Moving Mountains.” Be sure to check out the video for the song below!

This may sound bizarre but the original idea for the lyrics and theme of the song came about when I (Aric) was randomly reading some of Van Gogh’s letters. He has a book full of his letters / journal passages! I was sifting through the pages and found this one where he talks about having such “clarity” in his vision, his art, yet no one.. literally, NO ONE else gets it. Van Gogh sold only one painting his entire life, which made this all the more interesting and deep. The song evolved from there about having a clear vision of what you would like to do in life and going for it regardless of anyone else’s understanding of that vision. Our music always seems to lead back to themes of inspiration & healing and we took that route when we had our finished song.

Moving Mountains was recorded in Southern California in our make-shift studio, which is inside a clubhouse of a mobile home development. We love that place!

“Moving Mountains” Lyrics:

Clarity paint me bright, like stars in the dark of night

And open up the sky, now meet me by the mountainside

Where there is a fire in my belly and beast in my mind

That keeps trying to tell me to strengthen my spine

All through this life, there comes a time to move a mountainside

Hold my hand, and lead me over this strange land,

‘Cause this great unknown was meant to be found

Oh, it’s calling me now

Open the doors

I’ve been here once before

But wasn’t really sure what I was looking for

Mold my soul, into something to uphold, a book untold

So won’t you unfold these pages now

Oh ‘cause they’re crying and they’re calling out saying hear me now

Open the doors

I’ve been here once before

But wasn’t really sure what I was looking for

I was meant to find

What’s on the other side of this hill

Calling out my name to the light
