Mississippi Pop-rockers, Love Brooklyn, opened up about their experiences writing their debut EP, All Or Nothing. The EP is a prime example that it doesn’t always take artists three tries to find a good sound, it can happen on the first. Check out the track-by-track below and you can purchase a copy of All Or Nothing here.
WHERE WE STAND
“Where We Stand” is the earliest written track on All or Nothing. We had made plans to go to a commercial studio before it was written, but we had no idea that all of the songs we had previously written would be left off the record. This song is special to us because it was our first glimpse into what our band was becoming and how we were developing as musicians. It was written about the most typical girl and wondering why you even bothered giving a second chance. “I was supposed to hang out with this girl several times, and she bailed every time. So I wrote this song about the type of girl who is willing to lie to you in order to satisfy you, and everything else negative that comes with that personality; and being able to separate yourself from that.” Says Casey.
TAKE IT SLOW
This song is about nothing more than letting your walls down in sight of the type of girl who’s so beautiful that she’s intimidating when she walks into a room. It’s about infatuation and allowing yourself to give in to desire. The song paints a picture of how great such a small possibility can become. It gives a positive outlook on hope while showing that it’s possible for everything to fall into place and for things to work. It’s a hopeful song, and we wrote it in hopes that listeners could gain insight thinking “just what if?”
ALL THE WAY
This song is the weight of the world on your heart when you have no other choice but to face a negative situation. It’s a relationship, a death, a severed friendship. It’s being unsure about where life is taking you, and not knowing how to find direction. It’s about understanding that things may get difficult, but hope and faith pull you through. You just have to keep singing! It’s an honest place in your heart where you deal with hard truth, but have hope for the future. It’s trusting in yourself, and not giving up to make things better. It’s about giving into true ambition and taking large steps. It’s what you feel when you miss someone far away, or how you feel being stuck in one place, finding it harder to progress. But at the end of the day, you know you’re getting stronger.
ANOTHER PRETTY FACE
“Another Pretty Face” is a lustful tune about remembering the sensations of summer. It’s about that relationship where things are beginning to get harder so you start reminiscing on memories of when you first met, when things were good, and asking yourself what to do. Should you give up and move on or fight harder for your relationship? You’re fed up while at the same time you don’t want to lose her. During the midst of everything, you’re trying to ignore the bad and focus on the moment all while giving back in to the feelings and trying to stay afloat. It’s the most common struggle in relationships today.
ALONE
“Alone” was written on the basis of one idea; contentment. It’s a song about finding happiness within yourself rather than another person. It tells the story of a learning experience and dealing with heartbreak. It’s about finding how not only to cope with the problem, but how to find yourself better than you were before. It’s about realizing things may be broken beyond repair, but not giving up. It’s an alternative perspective with reason to be jealous with your happiness. It’s gives an explanation on how removing yourself from toxic situations can make you happy in the end. It’s the very moment you start thinking with your head rather than a blind heart. It’s a song about the truest form of self healing and positive energy in a place where life is different and unfamiliar.
