Violent Kind – Left With Nothing
Review by Catt Kruger
Violent Kind is a four piece band that incorporates a little piece of many styles into their music. Their EP Left With Nothing is a blend of indie, rock, and a little punk. It’s composed of five songs, containing nothing but edgy yet clean vocals, guitar, bass, and drums. This EP is not just composed about your typical love experiences but also about family and the struggles faced in life. It’s a breath of fresh air to get a new band that has a unique vibe to offer the music scene. This is another band on the rise that needs to be watched out for, I found myself reviewing their EP and listening to it over, and over. Their catchy beats and relatable lyrics helped their EP come out as great as it did.
“Momma” literally hits home for the band. It’s all about home life, moving around, and having to just grow up and face some challenges. It’s also my recommended track to listen to on this EP. The song has a very classic indie feel to it, it starts off slow and quiet but picks up eventually and has a more rock vibe to it by the end of the song. I know many people can relate to this track and that’s such an important part of music. They threw their feelings and thoughts into this song.
Another recommended track for this EP is “Over Dramatic.” The song title says it all. Still representing a classic indie feel to it, the lyrics, “but if you ask me for a piece of my mind, I’m gonna’ tell you twice,” are a big statement that ties the song title to the song. “Over Dramatic” is all about being over dramatic and not being afraid to voice your opinion when it needs to be stated.
Violent Kind has also just released a music video for “By The Ocean” which is the single off this EP that dropped yesterday, July 22nd.. Be sure to check that out as well and continue to follow them throughout their journey of moving up in the music industry.
