Five Albums From Warped Tour 2014 Bands Words and Picks By Annette Schaefer

If you are anything like me, Warped Tour is an absolutely necessary summer tradition. It’s a great time to get outside and see several of the bands you love all in one day, as well as, see some bands maybe you’re just hearing for the first time. Here are some albums by some of the bands on this year’s Warped Tour that are must listen before and after the show.

Echosmith – Talking Dreams I remember hearing about Echosmith around a year ago, but I never really gave them much of a listen. This year at Warped Tour they ended up playing right after one of my must-see bands so I decided to hang around and hear their set. I was impressed so I picked up their album Talking Dreams. I’m officially in love with the album’s fun and light tone. It has some great tunes to just cruise to with the windows down in your car and is an awesome summer listen.

The Maine – Black and White The Maine was probably at the top of my list for bands to see at this year’s Warped Tour. If I had to pick an album to jam on repeat before seeing them at a show, it would be Black and White. They tend to play a lot of the songs on this album during their shows and plus the songs are just great to sing along to.

Neck Deep – Wishful Thinking For the last year I’ve really been trying to find some newer pop-punk bands that I can get into and one of the bands that has stood out in my search has been Neck Deep. Their music has a great blend of angst and energy. Wishful Thinking was definitely pumping through my car’s stereo this summer in preparation for Warped Tour.

Saves The Day – Stay What You Are One of the other bands that were a must-see for me this year was Saves The Day. The last time I saw them was during an acoustic set at Warped Tour 2006, so it’s been a while. Probably one of my favorite moment’s of their set this year was when they played the song “Freakish” off their album Stay What You Are. It’s one of my favorite songs by them and it was definitely a song that got the whole crowd singing.

Less Than Jake – See the Light If Less Than Jake is on the line-up for Warped Tour, it’s practically a crime, in my book, to not go see them. If you get the chance, their set will probably be one the most fun shows of your day with lots of jokes and singing and dancing. While it’s definitely a great idea to refresh your memory of all of their older tunes, you should also take the time to listen to their latest album See the Light before you go to the show.  There are lots of great songs on it and they are sure to play their new single “Do the Math.”
