How did you form?
Woody and I have been making music together since high school, but we originally formed as an instrumental jam band. We eventually grew tired of being background music at hookah bars, so we started playing more energetic music. We demanded our audience’s attention. Finally, we started writing songs with vocals, and we have watched our audience grow exponentially ever since.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
As far as a highlight to our live performance career, it would have had to be when we opened up for The Dear Hunter or Fun. These were milestone shows for us, and we loved every second of it. Maybe even better yet was our last CD Release, where the album wasn’t even released yet, but we had the entire venue singing the words with us already. As far as our overall music career though, it was definitely working with producer, Marc McClusky (Weezer, Ludo, Letlive), on our newest album, Young Lungs. We learned more about music and songwriting in those two weeks than we ever had in our entire lives.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
When we’re asked this question, we have always replied with the same answer. Instead of Sleeping is not just a band that you need to hear, but also a band that you need to see. Our live performances are our biggest strength, and we pride ourselves on grabbing the audiences attention and never giving it back the entire show.
