Anson Li is a solo alternative rock artist who is trying to shine through everyone else by just being himself. Switching back and forth between Los Angeles and New York City, Li is finding his way in songwriting world and turning his musical endeavors that were once a hobby into a profession. How did you begin your musical career?
I’ve been playing music all my life. About three years ago I decided to take it seriously as a profession and released my first EP Go My Way in 2012. Since then, I have been trying my best to get people to listen to my music by doing three full U.S and Canada tours.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
A hundred people coming to a show in Arkansas and singing along. It was crazy!
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
I think people should listen to my music because it’s honest and comes from the heart. A lot of artists these days are always trying to be someone else and sell out. I’m trying these days to make music that is different from what everyone else is doing and not bend to the will of the industry. I’ve learned from my old career doing pop rock that if you’re just yourself, more people will be drawn to it. I’ve taken that lesson to heart and I am now trying to make something that is real, something that reaches the hearts and souls of others.
