The Bunny The Bear – Food Chain
Review by Catt Kruger

At first blown away by how loud and in your face the album starts off, I was interested in listening to more; my attention was most certainly captured. The Bunny The Bear came out with albums in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and now Food Chain, in 2014. Each album had something to bring to the table but it is incredible to have a band produce an album each year, four consecutive years in a row. On this album, each track had a unique feel to it but at the same time had some similar elements to it that bound the whole album together. This album covers a lot of styles of music which include a hardcore approach, upbeat tempos and the use of synth.  The precise clean vocals and upbeat instrumental and synth beats help give this album some character, which is exactly what The Bunny The Bear are — masked characters.

Track 8, “Skyscrapers,” is one of my highly recommended tracks to listen to on this album. It’s one of the less hardcore songs on the album. The clean vocals and mood of the song are what caught my attention and made me thoroughly enjoy it. You can easily relate this song to a lot of things going on in life which is what I tend to gravitate towards when choosing music to listen to, something that can speak or relate to me. Another track I recommend is Track 10, “High Tides And Swimming Conditions.” It has an almost love song approach on a more deep level, but with a hardcore twist infused into it. It’s a jumble of things into one song but it’s certainly catchy and worth listening to.  Although not my favorite album, it’s definitely worth a listen

Overall Rating: 3/5
Recommended Tracks: “Skyscrapers” and “High Tides And Swimming Conditions”
