Five Best Albums to Start Your Morning Off
Words and Picks by Catt Kreuger
Every morning, especially early mornings, are always hard to deal with. I tend to lack in motivation for getting out of bed, getting ready, etc. These five albums, in my eyes, are the best to blare in the morning to get yourself ready for the day, as well as to make your mornings less miserable.
Circa Survive – Juturna
Juturna by Circa Survive is one album I love getting my mornings started with. This album is perfect for those mornings that you’re still groggy and don’t need something imediatly blarring at 6:45 a.m. The whole album is mixed with slow and more upbeat songs, that way the album can start off as background noise and by the end you’re singing every lyric while trying to get dressed and not be late. This album has a fantastic transition that can turn any hazy morning into a good one.
A Great Big Pile Of Leaves – Have You Seen My Prefrontal Cortex?
Have You Seen My Prefrontal Cortex? by A Great Big Pile Of Leaves is another great way to start your morning. I tend to find myself listening to this album when I have more time to get ready and I’m not rushing. Ironically enough, I always seem to turn up track five, “Bring Back Breakfast,” when making myself food in the morning. This album has a great mix between melodic pieces all the way to songs I’ll be dancing around my kitchen or room while getting ready. Each song is just one gem after the next that makes mornings less miserable.
Bring Me The Horizon – Sempiternal
Sempiternal by Bring Me The Horizon is an album that really starts your morning off. Some mornings I love blasting this, it gets me motivated for the day and in a better spirit. What’s a better way to start your day off at 7 am than by waking your neighbors up with loud music and screaming the lyrics to get you pumped up for the rest of the day?
The Story So Far – Under Soil And Dirt
Under Soil And Dirt by The Story So Far is the perfect album to wake up, and get your day started with. It’s not too slow but not too fast. It’s the perfect balance between the two which is what I think we all need in the morning. Every song I can relate to for the most part and it’s a good feeling to jam out early to an album that just gets you, so to speak. I love singing along to every word as well, and even this one is great for singing in the shower, (come on, you know we all know you do it).
Taking Back Sunday – Tell All Your Friends
Tell All Your Friends by Taking Back Sunday is a complete throwback and what morning wouldn’t get better with a little throwback thrown into it? Especially recently, I find myself blasting this in the morning trying to get myself ready for the day because it’s anticipating me for the new album they’re going to release soon. Although I find it hard to put makeup on while listening to this album, because half the time I can’t help but sing along, I find it brightens my mood from dim to blinding in about .5 seconds.
