It’s hard to find female rock vocalists in today’s scene, but Aly Jados is among the few. Her determination and edge set her apart from the rest. Jados is a Chicago, IL artist looking to make some big upcoming moves. Recently, fans were able to show support by backing a successful Kickstarter campaign for a new album. How did you begin?
I have been in bands since I was 16. I started playing out solo right about the time I auditioned for American Idol in 2010.
What has been the highlight of your career?
I have had many amazing opportunities come my way, like playing Summerfest in Milwaukee last summer, showcasing at SXSW in Austin, TX or being on NBC’s the Voice. I think the coolest thing I have done so far would probably be funding my Kickstarter for my upcoming record. Kickstarter is an all or nothing campaign to raise funds for a creative project; I had thousands of dollars to raise with only days to spare. I funded the Kickstarter with only a few hours left – that was a proud moment and highlight of my career. It really showed that I had support and people that believed in my art. So my next proud moment will be delivering my best work on this record!
Why should people listen to you? What makes your music different?
There are not many female singers in rock, especially today. I sing with my heart and I strive to create something different. My influences range from every end of the spectrum and I think that shows through my music.
