Moving Brooklyn – Intervals
Review by Rebecca Del Castillo

From pulsing drum beats, to electric melodies, Milford, Connecticut rock quintet, Moving Brooklyn, definitely doesn’t fail to entertain, and their debut EP, Intervals, displays that perfectly. Produced by Jon Naclerio (We Are the In Crowd, My Chemical Romance), Intervals is six driving tracks with incredible combinations of pop-punk and rock n’ roll. An upbeat and enjoyable album, Moving Brooklyn will have you singing along to every song by the end.

The rockin’ “If I Ever” and “Symmetry” start Intervals off with a bang, both with lifting pop-punk meets rock n’ roll energy. “If I Ever,” the first song on the album, tells a story of love and loss, with lyrics including “Trying, trying to get you back, you shoot, shoot me down.” The album’s second song, “Symmetry,” is a lively and hopeful song, with lyrics such as “After years of running circles, I know exactly who I wanna be.” From foot tapping to head bobbing, these two starters are bound to get listeners moving.

If it’s a more pop-punk song listeners are looking for, track number three, “Divorce Rock Record,” is the best bet, with definite early 2000’s punk vibes. Next comes the slightly slower, “Parlor Tricks,” however, don’t expect your typical sad love song, as this track keeps pace with the driving rock of the rest of the album. Picking back up and closing the EP are two genuinely great songs. “Actors impresses with incredibly electric rhythms, while “Good Thing I’ve Learned is the perfect finish to the album, leaving listeners wanting more.

Though currently lacking a certain je ne sais quoi that today’s most thriving pop-rock acts possess, Moving Brooklyn is well on their way to becoming a top band in this scene, with the great collection of driving pop-punk infused rock sounds that is Intervals, for fans of bands like Anberlin and Sparks the Rescue.
