If you’re shopping for new music that will satisfy the “acoustic rock” inside of you, then The John Carver Band is probably a fit. This Jacksonville, FL band approaches the listener with a blend of rock, acoustic, and singer/songwriter. September 26 marked the release of their latest album, Everywhere Is Home. Many reviews are highlighting the vocal harmonies, lyrical content, and overall instrumentals. Plan to have their tunes driving your next road trip or rainy day. Well, any day for that matter. How did you form?
This band began with love…The love of Eric Denton and Dan Mclintock. Boy how they loved jamming tunes together. So much so that it eventually turned in to a regular thing called “My Folks.” Soon after, as most couples do, the duo decided it was time to take it to the next level, so they had a giant man-baby and named him Casey Teate. They raised him to play music and to fill their two part harmonies with yet another, in to that which would thence forth become three hereafter. So that was great, but the relationship was still missing a little bing bang boom. So the trifecta put an ad out on Match.com and got hooked up with the likes of Tim Grisnik whom ironically had already been playing drums with Dan in another band for years. What are the chances?! I mean I’ve heard that website really does work, but wow. Tim was formally asked to join the family at which time he replied, “no” and then “yes” and then followed up with a “we’ll see.” Within twelve minutes Tim was bribed in to the band with a bag of pretzels and a 1984 Darryl Strawberry rookie baseball card and the foursome hasn’t looked back since, much. And if they have it was only to see what was behind them. Which is understandable.
What has been the highlight of your career?
We were booked to open for The Beach Boys. It fell through, but it’s still the highlight of our career thus far.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
We attempt to make the best music we can. We love it. This is probably the same reason most other bands do.
