Forever Came Calling//Family Thief – Split
Review by Trevor Figge
Have you been searching for a grouping of acoustic Pop-Punk tracks to get you through the cold days and sleepless nights? Well put down your Brand New vinyl repress and go listen to the new Forever Came Calling//Family Thief Split.
This split is definitely a split, it’s four songs; two from each artist. This album has something for all your indie and emo friends. It has beautiful string arrangements to make your heart warm and swell as the dynamics of the strings usher you through the isle to the front row of this intimate acoustic concert. If string arrangements aren’t your thing, then worry not. Forever Came Calling revamped their crowd favorite “Front Porch Sunrise” and it is that is sure to be an acoustic Pop-Punk ballad to defeat Man Overboard’s “Love Your Friends, Die Laughing” at the Pop-Punk pizza bonfire with all your best friends.
Now on the other half of the split you have Family Thief, a new comer to the Pop-Punk game. But this rookie does not upset they bring heartfelt hard hitting lyrics and beautiful arrangements that will make even Pierce The Veil fan girls swoon. Both songs on the their portion of the split are sang so sincerely that you feel an honest connection to Family Thief as they sing, “If I don’t get what I deserve. I’m gonna hang my head below the rafters and watch my heels down from space”. You may weep now.
This split is a must for anyone who wants an album to listen to whilst wrapping themselves tightly in a blanket late at night and contemplating all of life’s questions. The arrangement of each song is crafted perfectly, the mixing of this album is done so that you feel as if they are performing outside in the cold night as you huddle around them. So grab some hot coco and sing passionately along with this split.
