What is your company story? How did Motif get started?
Beginning sometime in early 2012, co-founder William D’Arcangelo had recently ended his stint with Falkore Clothing and was ready to start over fresh with a new brand and new plan in mind. With the help of long time friends Alex Booth and Jeremy DeJong, the name “Motif Republic” was created and plans to develop the name into a fully operating clothing brand were underway. D’Arcangelo says, “For quite sometime, my friend and I we’re involved with Falkore Clothing. We saw some moderate success locally in San Diego and it’s wonderful music scene, but I’ll be 100% honest, I really had no idea what I was doing at the time. I’ve learned a lot from my experience with Falkore Clothing and I wanted to take everything I’ve learned from my mistakes and take all of the advice I’ve acquired from more seasoned people in the clothing business and put that knowledge into a fresh new brand that is now known as Motif Republic. I started the brand by reaching out to friends behind the wonderful services of Ruffian Screen Printing and DVUS Design and they helped me with resources I needed to release the fresh and unique brand that is Motif.
De Jong adds, “Motif Republic has opened my eyes to see how friends can be unified, despite distance and time, to form something incredible from a small idea. I love our brand and I love our people”
What do you feel your brand represents?
Quality, confidence and style. Those are the three words I have modeled Motif Republic around since day one.
What do you plan to accomplish with your brand?:
What don’t I want to accomplish? I want Motif Republic to have a worldwide presence. It sounds cliché, but isn’t that every brand owner’s dream?
Three personal favorite (Highlight) designs and why?
These are some of my favorite pieces to date. The Masons reference in our logo is tribute for our dedication to high quality garments, attention to detail, and a contribution to the communities that support us from within.
