Remember that terrible feeling you got when your favorite bands growing up suddenly, “changed” their sound or were sadly, “overtaken” by another emerging genre? Well for you fans of bands like New Found Glory, Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy, have no fear; Hello Monster is here! West Coast Pop-Punk band, Hello Monster, is a great blend of old school and new school. They’re a great change of pace and really prove that old school Pop-Punk is very much still alive and well. Vocalist, Paul Gimenez leads the way with super solid pipes that are actually quite catchy, and the rest of his mates pave the way to what is a spectacular chemistry between energy and melody. So, sit back, reminisce and enjoy the tunes from the four men that make up, Hello Monster.

How did you form?
Everything started when Paul moved to San Francisco from Iowa, and met Sid within days of his return to the Bay Area. Since then, it’s taken a number of years, dozens of Craigslist ads, and a little bit of luck, but we have finally reached what should hopefully be the lineup for years to come. We’re all close friends, and all love playing music with each other.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
So far the highlight has to be our CD release show – we came within 5 people of selling out the venue (Brick and Mortar Music Hall in San Francisco) and were overwhelmed by the energy level in the room the whole night. We got to share the stage with three other great bands, and loved playing to a packed, lively, sweaty room of some of our best friends as well as a bunch of new faces.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
Our style of music is really what sets us apart. We consider our band to be “post pop punk” in that we take inspiration from our pop punk upbringings and blend that raw energy with a somewhat more polished sound and melodic approach. The end product is something that appeals to the pop punk kids as well as folks whose stage diving days are behind them, but always sounds good as the backdrop to a Saturday night party.
