A Yawn Worth Yelling

It’s always refreshing to come across a band that hooks you from the first note of the first song that you randomly, “just pick.”  Listen to another song, and get the same result; another and it’s still happening.  That is what just transpired minutes before this was written. Why the long thorough introduction you ask?  Well, it’s just because we want to make it very clear that you need to check out San Jose indie rockers, A Yawn Worth Yelling.  If you consider yourself a fan of indie rock, than it’s your duty to check these guys out! With killer finger picking licks leading the melodies, and soft unique vocalswe promise these gentlemen will leave you with your eyes closed and some part of the human anatomy moving one way or another; all just getting lost in the music.

How did you form?
A Yawn Worth Yelling formed in December 2010 because we wanted to make fun, intelligent music with our best friends. We all pretty much met through the local San Jose music scene, and before we even formed our band, we supported each other in all of our different bands at the time. And what started as a side-project, soon became an undeniably full-fledged effort.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
We played a Christian music festival in Sacramento called Joshua Fest in August 2012. We were lucky enough to stay the weekend and make new fans and friends, play laser tag, and watch our childhood favorites Switchfoot and Relient K headline the festival. We’re not a christian band though, so shhhh…

Why should people listen to you? What makes your band different?
People should listen to us because we can be up-beat and dance-y, or downtempo and orchestral; our music isn’t easily categorized. All of us come from different musical backgrounds, and as a result our writing process is very democratic. We all give critical input, and we take into account everyone’s ideas when it comes to writing and arranging. Our music is the product of sweat and labor and yelling-matches between friends. We challenge ourselves with every beat, with every melody and with every lyric to be the best band we could possibly be. Besides, thirty years from now don’t you want to tell your kids that you listened to us before Ben & Jerry’s named an ice cream flavor after A Yawn Worth Yelling?
