Pop rock band Radiodriveby recently released a music video for their catchy as all get out song “One You Want.” We were given the opportunity to interview the guys about the music video and we took it. We had to know the inside scoop about how this video came to be which included the concepts behind the video and why they chose to incorporate certain colors. Check out the interview and watch the music video as well below.

Q: You guys just put out the music video for “One You Want.” What is the storyline in the video?
A: It’s basically about going back to that old-school, vintage vibe. There isn’t a huge storyline because we wanted to represent the song more with imagery and visual ideas than a complex set of scenes. There is however a girl in the video who meets Trent, and they hit it off. Yet at the end of it all, he walks past her, and you’re left wondering what happened between them, if anything. We wanted to keep it more of a mystery and set the scene to match the song itself.

Q: How did the concept come about? Was it the first one or did it take a while to come to it?
A: The video turned out pretty close to our original ideas. We knew the feel that we wanted to have for it just based on how the track sounded. Later we all decided to dress up, and go with a lot of black and white for a classic look.

Q: The song has a very groovy feel to it and the video even showcases your synchronized dancing skills. Were there any influences for making the video a type of throwback to the 60s?
A: Definitely! The song itself has roots in 60s and 70s rock and R&B, and the video follows suit. The look of a lot movies during that time was pretty influential, but also things like James Bond and Mad Men, which we enjoy.

Q: A good amount of the video is in black and white. Was this a way of giving it more of a vintage feel?
A: Yeah, but we also just thought it looked cool. The black and white, mixed with a red tint to a lot of it was what we all had in our heads when listening back to the song. Some people can see colors with music, and to us it felt “red.”

Q: You guys are all looking very suave and handsome in the video. Did you contribute your own wardrobe?
A: Thank you! The whole video production was done ourselves, and with the help of friends. We went shopping for nice suits and accessories, as well as took careful time in choosing the locations to shoot. We wanted to do every part of it right, and be very authentic.

Q: Cory Davis directed the video. What was it like working with him?
A: Cory is a great director, and we always enjoy working with him. It’s really cool to see us grow as a band and him grow as a filmmaker too. We’re looking forward to doing some more projects together in the future.
