If you love indie-folk music, Bored Nothing will be your next favorite artist. Fergus, the man behind the act, gave us insight into his song “Get Out Of Here” and it’s really quite simple; drunken stories provoke memories and music. Check out all he had to say about his song below.

The song I’ve chosen is called ‘Get out of here’. The song is just a simple little acoustic ditty, I guess it’s a folk song seeing as it really doesn’t have a chorus. It’s a nice one live because we all sit down and get all whispery and quiet.
How did the song come about?
I had a little demo done on tape of the song just after I’d written it, but I felt the recording was lacking some depth. I emailed it to my friend Marcus and he sent it straight back to me with some electric guitar he’d improvised over the top of it. I loved it immediately and that is exactly what ended up on the album.
How did you write the song?
I write most of my stuff on the fly with a bunch of different instruments at once and a tape player, so this song is kinda different coz for once I just sat with an acoustic guitar and wrote it all at once.
What is the song about?
The song is the story of a drunken night I spent in the town where I grew up, trying to find old houses and memories in the dark, and eventually getting picked up by the cops.
Lyrics
I walked down through the burning cars along your street
I sat and wrote your name with my finger on the concrete
Your voice was still and crisp in my ear
“My dad’s a cop, so you’d better get out of here”
I turned down a familiar street and the houses swayed
I remembered walking with you and suddenly I felt afraid
You stood your feet in the drain and said
“When you yell I die” and the implications hurt my head
And so the cops found me that night in the park
I was drunk and tripping through the dark
I’d carved a tree with your name and mine
And the sentiment of cheap red wine
