The Fleeting Ends

0

Like all great bands, The Fleeting Ends began with a spark of an idea and a whirl wind of inspiration. The rock band from Upper Derby, Pennsylvania have that old school sound with undeniable influences from The Beatles, The Police and The Rolling Stones. This band is bringing the old back into the new and infusing it with a special touch. In fact, they released their new album, Our Eyes Are Peeled, this past March 26th. Matt Amadio (vocals and drums) shares with us the story of their happening along with the highlight of their career and what makes their band different. Check it all out below, and you can hear some of their rockin’ tunes here.

How did you form?
Vantine and I have been in and out of bands since 2004, and we’ve always seemed to stick together. If someone wanted to jam with Vantine, I’d be on drums or bass. If someone wanted to jam with me, Vantine was on guitar. Matt and I came together through our mutual love of good music — that’s how all the greats meet, right? In the beginning, Vantine and I rarely wrote together. We only began writing as a team after we dissolved the group we had formed in 2006-7. I remember sitting down in Vantine’s room and listening to Abbey Road. We shared an epiphany and realized what we had to do.

Next we did what came natural. For years I played bass but we both decided I’d be better suited playing drums. Matt naturally took guitar. We spent a winter writing material and recording in my parents’ attic in Upper Darby, PA. We played a few shows here and there (White Stripes style) to test the waters. It was rough at first but we found our groove. We placed most of our focus on writing.

It was late winter when Tommy Joyner (Manager, Producer, Engineer) came into the picture. We had sent him some music and he was immediately interested. Before we knew it we were in MilkBoy studios recording our first LP. It was the summer after recording when we stumbled upon our bass player, Rusty. He was on the same bill as us, playing with a band from NYC. We were a two-man still and Rusty came up to us after our set and told us that if we needed some bass to let him know. That was that. Soon after Rusty moved to Philly and we became a trio.

What has beent he highlight of your career so far?
Putting together Our Eyes Are Peeled has been our biggest highlight. We feel we’ve grown as a band and as people so much through its making. Holding the finished LP in our hands brought us to another level. We’re ready to show it.

Why should people listen to your band? What makes you different than all the others?
It’s all in the music. We carefully try to balance the seriousness and playfulness of songwriting and performing. Achieving this opens doors to every kind of music lover from 13 to 60 years old. Every band out there is looking for what makes them different. Someone may say we sound like 300 other bands but that’s one guy. We just want to be honest with our listeners and let them lead the way.
