Kyle Lucas – It’s Always Sunny In Marietta 2
Review by Jenn Stookey

One afternoon in Indiana I was wandering around the Van’s Warped Tour in the unforgiving summer sun when my friend and I found ourselves listening to a hip-hop act named Vonnegutt. That was the first I had ever heard the name of front man Kyle Lucas. My friend and I were taken back by his talent and shocked we had never heard of him and his group before. Two years have passed and I have found myself, once again, listening to music by Kyle Lucas, still just as shocked as the first time his rhymes reached my ears.

Not only did Lucas release his new album, It’s Always Funny In Marietta 2, for free, but even if it wasn’t I would have paid anything for it. This year has been THE year for independent hip-hop artists and I have found myself indulged in the scene. This album is the perfect representation of why hip-hop will never die. This collection of 18 songs has something for everyone; bass filled raps, a story about a breaking relationship, catchy tracks about overcoming the hardships of having no money and not having anyone believing in you, as well as a list of collaborations that will make you squeal with excitement.

If you are looking for that album to get you and keep you pumped during the summer, this is the one. It’s so hard to pick out what I love most about this album because every track has something interesting and different. It’s impossible to get bored with this album. Check it our for yourself by downloading it for free here, and take a look at the music video for his song “Worth It” featuring Johnny Craig, here.
