Five Best Albums For A Rainy Day
Picks & Words by Morgan Waldorf

According to the calendar spring starts on March 20th. Before we know it the weather will warm up and the snow on the ground will be replaced by rainy days spent indoors. I find that the best way to spend those days is with the perfect rainy day album. These are five of the records I think are perfect for a relaxing day inside with a good book and the sound of rain on your window.

Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago
Bon Iver is known for quiet reflective songs about heartache. For me this record evokes images of nature with its soothing acoustic guitar and heartfelt vocals. It’s simply beautiful and soothing music.

The XX – Coexist
This is one of my favorite records and I’ll find almost any excuse to listen to it, but it really is a nice album to listen to along with the rain. The XX find a way of combining heavy bass beats with almost ambient music and beautiful duets that sonically set an incredible atmosphere.

Sea Wolf – Old World Romance
This is another record that congers images of nature with well crafted melodies and great songwriting. It’s catchy while still being low key and calming.

Now, Now – Threads
One of the best records to come out of the midwest recently, this record sets a mood and each song seamlessly flows into the next. With its emotional and soft vocals and memorable lyrics it’s an album that’s easy to get lost in.

+ – Ed Sheeran
This record has been wildly successful for a reason. With a refreshing amount of raw talent and songwriting prowess Sheeran turned heartache into a beautiful album that contains ballads as well as a song with beat-boxing and rapping and everything in-between. This one is perhaps the best option for a well rounded listening experience while the drops fall outside.
