On a very last minute text message from my editor Ashley, she informed me that I would be covering the Coheed and Cambria headlong tour that night along with Between the Buried and Me and Russian Circles. I had previously seen Coheed a few years back opening up for a Linkin Park concert, needless to say I was quite impressed with their performance and I was excited to be photographing Coheed that night!

First up was Russian Circles. Prior to the show I did not know anything about this band so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Three guys walk out to a drum kit, bass and guitar, I was waiting for the vocalist to walk out but it turns out they are an all instrumental band. I really enjoyed this band and the flow that their set had. They have a melodic and ambient fell to the music and its pretty easy listening.

Up next was Between the Buried and Me. This North Carolina metal band really knew how to connect with the crowed and really got them amped up. For having been a band for over a decade they sure had a great following of fans who sang and chanted throughout their entire set.

Last but not lead Coheed took the stage. With Claudio walking out with his small acoustic guitar and beginning the night off with the song “Pretelethal” the crowd was fully engaged for a great show from the band. There were many die-hard Coheed fan’s at the show with the venues crowd almost singing over Claudio’s voice. Playing a twelve song setlist and finishing off with a three song encore ending with “Welcome Home” I knew everyone would be leaving the show more than happy.
