On Facebook DRGN KING discribes their music as, “psychedelic indie everything music”. I know you’re probably thinking, “what in the world does that mean?” Well, I’m here to tell you that this group of musicians somehow makes it all work out to where it doesn’t matter what that means because their music just works. It’s interesting and has a new vibe, straight out of Philadelphia, PA. The band’s new album Paragraph Nights releases January 22nd and is going to be a must to listen to this year. How did DRGN KING form?
Ritz and I met in late 2009 and bonded over our love of lots of different kinds of music. We wanted to make songs that were firmly planted somewhere in-between The Beatles and Wu-Tang Clan. We picked up various band members along the way and have been a music-creating machine since.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
We’ve played some great shows. Opening up for Future Islands and Unknown Mortal Orchestra was great. Putting Paragraph Nights out in January is going to be a big one too.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different than other bands?
Our whole goal is to fuse together tons and tons of styles and influences to create something new. So hopefully that makes us different.
