Be Easy – I Hope You Hear Me
Review by Will Howard
Georgia based pop punk band Be Easy have been working hard since 2010. Now just a few days before the end of the world Be Easy released their debut full-length record, I Hope You Hear Me. This ten- track record from the four piece outfit brings in the traditional bright pop punk tones with a more natural and full feeling rock vibe, creating the clearly identifiable Be Easy sound.
The record beings with a short track entitled, “Dreamcatcher”. Based on a simple guitar riff and a driving sonic build up, the song brings you right into the record without a second thought. When the full band comes in the Be Easy name earns its stripes, creating a pop punk record with an easy southern vibe. As the record continues the band traps listeners with their beautifully integrated rock and pop punk influences.
The fifth track on the record and my personal favorite is “Giving Up”. With a more upbeat fast pop punk vibe than most of the record it gets my juices flowing. As the band balances their bright lead lines with the relaxed and rocky guitar strumming the song picks up speed and power. With beauty and grace Be Easy slides from their fast powerful verses to a slow and rather groovy bridge section that displays the bands message with perfection. As the whole band sings in unison, “I’m giving up on everything, the story of my own best friend,” Be Easy leaves you with nothing else to desire.
The rest of the record continues in a similar fashion, with the perfect balance between a relaxed easy chorus and a fast bright verse. As a talented group of guys from Georgia, Be Easy brings together their southern roots with the power and beauty of a pop punk band. It is a lovely and beautiful but offers no real creativity or progression for the genre. I recommend listening to “Giving Up” or “Pen Pal”.
