Una Jensen is not your ordinary 16 year old from Massachusetts. While other kids are thinking about how many times they can press the snooze button before they need to wake up, what to do on the weekend, and hitting the roads for the first time, Una is thinking about the lyrics for her next hit song. The talented singer-songwriter tells us the inside scoop for her latest song, “
Let’s Write A Song.”
Una Says: ‘I think it was 8th grade when I was on facebook trying to think of a status to get people pumped about me writing a new song. All of a sudden a little rhyme came into my head “let’s write a song that the world will sing along to, shout it loud and clear so the neighbors gonna hear you”… It was just a facebook status… But it rolled around in my head for about 2 years before I told my dad about it and he told me it was meant for a song… So we went to work… Now at the time where we started building around that catchy chant, I was pretty stressed out with school and music and friends and ya know, teenaged drama, so the song is really about letting go of all of your worries and just having fun!! This is extremely important for performers and singers to remember. That not only are you entertaining others, you’re supposed to be having fun too! It’s sometimes hard to not get caught up in “oh I HAVE to do this, it’s my job!!”. You gotta remember “I WANT to do this, because I LOVE doing it!!” As soon as we finished writing it, we went to work recording. The back up vocals in the chant were fun cause I had my mom and my best friend help!! They were good sports!! We all stood in one room yelling the chant in different voices, trying not to crack up, it was super fun!!’
