This week’s Highlighted artist is Joshua Michael Robinson. He truly is a dreamer behind a piano. His music cuts straight to the heart and draws you in closer to the emotion of the music he produces. In fact, the 21-year-old from Lakeland, Florida has just released a new album, Intentions, in which we could not be more excited about. How did you begin writing/creating music?
I’ve never been one to learn songs. Even as a child it was always about creating and most of the time I had no idea what I was creating. I was about 17 when I decided to write full songs and a couple years after that wrote this record.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
We just recently played a club in Orlando, Backbooth, for my CD release show. My hometown is nearly an hour and a half away and I had played there before but nothing like this. It was sold out. People were shoulder to shoulder. It was the time of my life.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
I think what I write is sincere and I have such a variety of influences that the record came out pretty interesting. I am certainly proud of it and am so encouraged that is has meant so much to listeners so far.
