Tour Review & Photos by Erica Livoti
New York, NY – I walked into The Bowery Ballroom and immediately felt at ease by the cozy ambiance as the familiarity of the venue comforted me with memories of past shows. Star shaped lights dangled in the stairwells as I made my way up the steps into the main ballroom. Once I walked in I was instantly immersed into a huge crowd of anxious fans. They had just finished watching The Dear Hunter perform and couldn’t wait for Anthony Green to come out on stage.
There was no barricade so I quickly shuffled into the crowd to try to get as close to the stage as I could to try and take pictures. As soon as the crew stopped sound checking and the crowd got the feeling that Anthony was about to come out, everyone eagerly pushed their way to the front in hopes to get as close to him as possible. Once he walked out on stage, the crowd was ecstatic. Instantly everyone’s hands were reaching as far as they could towards the stage in hopes to get one slight touch of him. He began to sing, and so did the crowd.
Anthony Green performs with genuine passion and honesty making it hard not to be blown away. His emotions completely over took him in each song leaving every person in the crowd captivated by his performance. While performing “James’ Song” off his new record, Beautiful Things, you could see how he was trying to hold back tears the whole time. After finishing the song he made a point to tell everyone how incredibly grateful he was that everyone came out to support him and how much it means to and his family, including his son, James. Every time Anthony Green performed in the past, he always expresses genuine gratitude for his fans. He is beyond passionate about what he does, and his fans can definitely see that. What captivates his audience the most is knowing that they play an undisputed role in creating that passion for him; there is nothing more rewarding.
