Interview by McKenzie Hughes
1. From having a different style, being featured on VH1 and MTV, and having an endorsement from Betsey Johnson; what more as an artist do you aspire for?
Oh, I’m just starting! I am so thankful for all the things that have happened so far but I have such a long way to go as an artist, performer. I want to make a difference but notjust as an artist but also as a person. I’ve been through so much in my life and if I can help people through music, interviews, charities, etc. then that’s my main goal!
2. Were there any moments from touring, recording or sharing your music that has been more recognizable than others?
I think there are moments in all of those that are moments that I will never forget, but I would have to say that I love touring! Seeing the faces of all my fans makes my heart so happy! It is a good reminder to me about why I’m doing this!
3. You are currently working with music producer ARC with Pharsound Productions, who has anamazing resume. How has this experience help form you into an artist and strive to succeed more?
When Arc and I met we both sat down and discussed what we both wanted in our careers. Arc wanted his own artist and I wanted to be myself, having a “say” in my career and to be an inspiration to people around the world. We began working together 4 years ago and haven’t stopped. Together we have created the music you hear and we are both proud that we have stuck to our guns and haven’t given in to anything else. It’s been a hard journey doingeverything independently but it’s made me a better and stronger artist than I ever thought I could be.
4. Being only 22 and having your name known within the Industry and having made yourself an Internationally-known superstar a reality, can you think of one idea that you want to develop in the future that hasn’t been on a drawing-board yet?
There are so many things I want to do in my career but one thing that I have always wanted to do is to have my own fashion line. I want this fashion line to resemble something that is for everyone; something that everyone feels comfortable wearing and buying. Whether it is clothing, jewelry, or shoes I want to create a line that people can wear to express themselves in a positive way.
5. You have shared the stage with remarkable bands in the past, if anyone who is your dream band to play with?
There are many artists that I would love to share the stage with but I think if I had to choose one artist/band it would have to be No Doubt; that would be my dream!
6. Is there a future tour in store for 2012?
I don’t have anything confirmed as of right now but I am working on a college tour with another band, Family Force Five. This would be for the spring and then I plan to go to China in the summer.
7. A ‘Highlight(ing)’ secret about yourself that no one knows:
I received a scholarship for Acting & Musical Theatre my senior year of high school.
