A Chicago-based collaberative group Midnight Conspiracy took the time to let Highlight Magazine not only get to know them better but to learn their future goals for 2012.

1. Being based in Chicago since January of 2010, does Midnight Conspiracy’s career have different dynamics now than in your original intent?
We started out pretty casually just wanting to have a good time and party in Chicago. It was a casual hobby that got bigger than we expected. I never even considered the thought of playing Lollapalooza or Ultra when I was younger. So perhaps we should start taking things a little more seriously. Then again, probably not. In the early days of Mid Con we’d jam kiddie pools into loft parties and now we’ve moved up to jamming 16 ft LED laser dj booths in the shape of our “Eye of Providence” logo into venues.
2. Through playing many festivals/shows (Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival, SXSW, World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF), North Coast Music Festival), which has been the most resourceful for your music and its future?
Lollapalooza, they had a bigger food spread for artists along with more liquor and coconut water, so Lolla was much more resourceful to our bellies and liver.
3. M. C. has had appearances with remarkable artists; through those has any of them helped future musical creations or collaborations?
We did a DJ tour with Innerpartysystem. We were huge fans of their music before and now Kris Barman, a member of that band, is in our Dead Fame collective and we’re working on a lot of tracks together.
4. If there is one message behind your music for the listeners, what would it be?
Listen and find out.
5. You’re going to be performing in United States (Chicago, Victorville and Dallas) and in Canada (Victoria), are there any plans following these dates that end in March?
We’re working on the final touches of our new “Eye Live Laser Lightshow” performance. It features our LED custom DJ booth in the shape of our “Eye of Providence” logo accompanied with a laser light show as the name suggests, and through a narrated storyline that will take the audience on an audio/visual journey. We’ll debut it in Chicago in March and then look to showcase it in select markets.
6. Can you describe the “Eye of Providence” logo and it’s meaning? The “Eye of Providence” logo is of course an Illuminati reference.
“There is an elite few that rule this world in darkness and in evil. Your leaders are mere puppets in this New World Order…” is an excerpt from our intro. I’d say there is an elite class that pull the strings of the world bringing us perpetual war and filling up the purses of all their associates, a metaphorical Illuminati per se. With Midnight Conspiracy we’ve created a counter to that, the people’s illuminati where the average man doesn’t have to feel so helpless and it’s “The Eye” that’s watching over this elite class so that one day we may tear down these tyrants. It’s our protest against the establishment.
7. A ‘Highlight(ing)’ goal for 2012?
Sign to a major label, put out a couple EPs and make our stage show more ridiculous.
