With a 15-track long performance plus encore, the band was able to execute beyond people’s expectations. Their setlist was made up of new and older songs such as “The Beaten Path,” “White Tiger,” an acoustic performance of “Let Light Overcome The Darkness,” and even a Billie Eilish cover of “when the party’s over.”

In early November, self-producing band Our Last Night embarked on their North American headlining Let Light Overcome The Darkness Tour in support of their latest album, Overcome The Darkness. They are joined by three other bands – Ashland, The Word Alive, and I See Stars – all who when put together, created one of the most energetic shows ever. The bands recently made a stop in Portland, Oregon at the Roseland Theater on November 12.

Ashland was the first opener of the night. One would describe their sound as easygoing rock, but with a kick. As a more laidback band amongst the others on this tour, they were the perfect act to warm up the crowd and get them moving with their own unique sound. The Word Alive were next. Throughout their whole set, they blew the crowd’s mind with their outgoing energy – the crowd looked so alive and engaged with their performance. The final opener I See Stars really got the crowd bouncing and more excited for the headliner. By the end of their set, the audience was more eager than ever to see the main act.

With six smoke machines, three on either side of the front of the stage, shooting straight up multiple times during their first song, Our Last Night went onstage and began their set that would lead to an unforgettable night. They opened with “Same Old War,” a song from their 2013 album, Oak Island. Fans who attended the show were so intrigued by the band’s impactful performance that gave everyone a place to share their love for music and live performance.

From beginning to end, Our Last Night kept the audience active and included in their performance. The crowd would yell out the lyrics so loud that they were clearly heard over the loud volume of the music. And during the concert, the floor would shake from the intensity of the fans having such a good time as they jumped high off the ground. Our Last Night created an atmosphere filled with bliss and the crowd absorbed every minute of it to relive it over and over again in their memories.

With a 15-track long performance plus encore, the band was able to execute beyond people’s expectations. Their setlist was made up of new and older songs such as “The Beaten Path,” “White Tiger,” an acoustic performance of “Let Light Overcome The Darkness,” and even a Billie Eilish cover of “when the party’s over.” During one of the songs, two circle pits were formed in the audience, something they were so excited to do.

They closed the night with an encore of “Sunrise” where the crowd gave it their all, using every last bit of energy they had left into singing and jumping along to the song. The band did not even have to try to keep the audience’s energy up to finish their set. Even when it was over, although their time on stage was an hour and a half long, the crowd would still have been ready for more. They were so overfilled with joy that they knew the band had just given them one of their best nights, and they did not take it for granted.

The concert in its entirety was a night that gave people something to reminisce later on. It was bittersweet for them to leave. Even though they just had one of their best performances, they realized that it all had to come to an end at some point.

If you are wanting to experience something so alive and exhilarating, you can grab your tickets here. This tour runs through December, with a stop for Our Last Night’s 15-year anniversary show. Make sure you go, for you will never have experienced anything like this before.
