On the eve of her album release, Halsey’s #TBT revealed her childhood decision to leave sports to focus on music–proving that, sometimes, quitting can be a good thing.

“I fell in love with music and since it has been the singular driving force of my life,” the singer-songwriter said in a lengthy sentimental post to her Instagram and Twitter accounts. “I see everything through the microscope of a song.”

Today, she unveils her highly-anticipated sophomore album, hopeless fountain kingdom. Throughout the 16-song tracklist, Halsey pays homage to Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (“The Prologue”) maintains spiritual motifs (“Heaven In Hiding,” “Angel On Fire,” “Devin In Me”), channels Imogen Heap (“The Prologue” pt. 2, “Hopeless”), and harks back to the late 90s/early 2000s on “Walls Could Talk” and “Don’t Play.” Not to mention features by Quavo, Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui, and Cashmere Cat.

The hopeless fountain kingdom World Tour, her biggest yet, kicks off September 29. Fans can redeem a copy of the album with each pair of tickets purchased.
