Belmont’s “Water Weight” is Heavy, in More Ways than One

0

Chicago’s Belmont have shared a new single, “Water Weight,” via Dreambound. According to the pop punk band, the track explores the aftermath of personal loss and a reevaluation of what’s truly important.

This song was new for us because the writing approach was way different. We tried to switch things up a bit while staying true to ourselves, we took a more collaborative approach to this song, and adding Dave Knox’s influence pushed the song to new boundaries for us. The lyrics hold personal meaning too; dealing with the passing of a loved one before you’re personally ready is so difficult because life doesn’t wait for you to be emotionally ready. It makes you take a step back and reevaluate what’s important in your life, who and what you hold dear. – Sam Patt, guitarist

Belmont will kick off a U.S. tour with Hot Mulligan May 19 in Chicago. Tickets are available now.
